So I am flying to Nagoya / Osaka this coming Sunday 01:00 and in the end, because of the expensive fees to change my flights, I am not extending. Boo. But I am still excited for some hours of free and easy in both city to just soak in the spirit! Haha.

I have a couple of places I want to visit in the two cities and wish me luck that I will have a chance to go take a look at these places!

In Nagoya, I would like to visit their main shopping district at Sakae especially Nadya Park which has a huge The Loft store! I would love to visit Osu and the temple beside their shopping street, Osu Kannon for some lazy cultural experience!

In Osaka, I will be staying near Umeda and am hoping to go shop in Namba and dine at Dotonbori!

I bought this Garden Gnome off Amazon and paid SGD30 for it! Isn’t it beautiful! Love that it is carrying an acorn and a little bluebird. In case you’ve never read before, bluebird represents happiness, a mythology which goes back thousands of years and no, nothing like what we say in dialect. I love bluebird and what it represents, we even DIY-ed a pair of bluebird cake topper for our wedding! Shall share that one day.

To avoid incurring shipping cost which may go up to SGD50, Ke Ying offered to help bring it over when she comes back for good next Feb! Haha. Thank you dearie! Isn’t she the nicest? Offering to help lug a garden gnome for a complete stranger? Now I just have to wait patiently! I have a feeling that I’ll probably forget that I bought it nine months down the road , and it will come as a surprise for me!

We always wanted a garden gnome for our “garden” but it’s hard to come by in our local stores here. Also, most of the garden gnomes we see is scary looking, so I am really glad I found this!

According to wiki, garden gnomes were produced for the purpose of ornamentation and protection from evil sorcery, typically of gardens or on lawns. These figurines originate in 19th century Germany, where they became known as Gartenzwerg (literally “garden dwarf”). With that, I hope that our garden gnome can protect our garden! At least the pest I hope? HAH.

If Barley can do this, we would have cycle to a park or a beach for a picnic! Haha.

Just finish reading “Story of a Soul: The Autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux, Third Edition” by author Therese de Lisieux and translated to English by John Clarke.

story of a soul

This book was recommended by Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project, who sees St. Therese as her spiritual master. I reckon that since she was not a Catholic and is a regular Protestant Christian like me, if she can enjoy reading it, I can probably do that too. But I must admit, this is one of the hardest book to read, the language is unlike modern novel, there are many terms relating to Catholic practices which I’m not familiar, and it is more like her diary than a biography. She pours out her innermost thoughts and longings and I must say, it is incredible to read the heart of a little girl so young and yet so filled with such deep love for God. She knew her life, her mission, and she displayed her obedience and love in the little ways. I must admit I only read 3/4 of the books as it got a little too hard to read towards the end. But I was greatly humbled after reading it. It is a must for all Catholics and all God loving people!

One of the Dim Sum Dollies – Emma Yong has passed away. The art scene just lost a talented and beautiful performer. RIP Emma.

Franc Franc at J-Cube is now open! It is crazy crowded and there are plenty of cute little things! Didn’t take many pictures as there are too many people jostling around! Wanted to grab so many things but the man was there. In the end, I picked up two gifts for my cousins’s birthdays and a opening special shopper’s tote bag! I love using these during my shopping trips instead of using plastic bag. Now I can’t wait for their largest flagship store in Vivocity!

I read A Beautiful Mess regularly and I simply adore their DIY projects! One particular project caught my eyes in March and I had to bookmark it! Now I’m a proud creator and owner of two adorable Plush Fox Dolls! I picked up cotton fabric with vintage looking (aka grandma’s PJ prints which I love!) cloth from a random curtain shop in Clementi and two bags of polyfill stuffing! The cost price is cheap, with just under $30, I can make 3 fox toys but the labour is intensive. I don’t own a sewing machine and hand sew every stitch! It took me almost a day to finish one! Heh. A Beautiful Mess’s original fox toy looks better and mine just look like their long distance relatives. Haha. So far, only Jason and my sister likes it! I am going to make a third one for her, just because I love her. HAHA.

I just realize he is so adorable when he is younger! Now all my worries of having an ugly baby in the future is gone! Haha. Because I’m a cute baby too!

Two Sundays ago, Jason whipped up yummy ribeye steak and homemade garlic bread (all from scratch!) to give CW and Lennel a treat at our place to show his appreciation of a favor CW helped him with! So Lennel and I got to eat yummy treats for doing nothing! Haha
