We were supposed to go Ikea to look at the lightings but look what I cart home! And it’s at an unimaginably affordable price! Haha.

Was told by Cheng Wei that Typo is here in Singapore! It is from the same parent company that operates Cotton On and it is extremely popular in Australia! There are many beautiful things that I want to lug home from this store but Jason stopped me! He predicted that there will be a periodic sale just like Cotton On. BAH. See! I told you engineers are tough cookies and tight on your purse string!
It’s here in Wisma!
Pretty wall decals!
More!
This picture was sent to be from CW by the time I went to the store (24H later) this item is gone! Pff! Gone! Can you believe it? I wanted to get this for our new place and wedding decor since the colour is just right! Just not my day.
This will be perfect for my owl collection except that it is a tad oversize and my tiny loft (I know oxymoron here) may not have a space for it. BOO.
I first read about King & King Wong at bookjunkie’s blog and thought I must visit this shop someday! A few days ago, I happened to be around Serangoon for work so I decided to pop by and take a look at this much raved about store! I was not disappointed. When I stepped it, it feels as though I’m in a warehouse filled with random stuff, some really pretty items and some really bizarre items. There are items which gives out different vibes, you have the country and cottage style, the vintage and old school feel, glitzy glamour and some items which you can’t exactly pinpoint a style to it.
This is the perfect place for brides getting items for their dessert table!
Whimsical British Glamor?
Great for my little “corridor”!
Pretty candle holder!
I told ya there’s country / vintage!
I’ll end it off with a rear view! Heh.
We took close to two weeks of mattress shopping before deciding on the brand which we will be getting. Another week of shopping to decide on the model and type of mattress and another week to decide on the store to purchase it. I’m so glad we bought our mattress, one item off our To-Do list!
Bed (or rather, mattress) buying is one of the biggest and most important purchase for a new home. Unlike a dining table or a TV set, you spent close to 6 to 8 hours a day on it and it either energizes you the next morning or gives you a backache. Here’s a quick breakdown of our decision making process of mattress hunting. HAH
(1) Brand
We wanted a mid range mattress which gives us a luxurious sleep without an outrageous price tag. With a 3K budget for a queen size bed (our room is puny!), we went around trying brands like Spring Air (good mattress but decided that with that price we could have bought a more reputable brand), Simmons (a little too firm for us) and lastly Sealy! Alright, maybe we are a brand whore but isn’t “branding” the most convenient deciding factor? HEH.
(2) Type
I slept in a soft (closed to zero support) mattress all my life and it gives me backache every morning without fail. He slept in a medium-firm mattress all his life. DAMN. Talk about opposite attracts. In the end, we decided on a soft-firm mattress. Sounds like an oxymoron? The mattress is soft on the top layer which gives the luxurious feel but firm on the inner layer which provides ample support to the neck and spine.
(3) Location
Would our money goes to Courts, Robinson or an independent distributor? It was an easy choice for us because we bought the 60th Anniversary model – Diamond Jubilee – which is available at all channels. Unlike other models which are often exclusive for different channels (or rather, Sealy gives a different name of similar product for all channels, e.g Rose, Tulip, Lily for similar product say at Robinson, Courts and Distributor), Diamond Jubilee allows direct comparison of the deals offered. Eventually we picked Robinson because of the great service (we are a little bias because it is our favourite departmental store), Post Christmas offer and a free throw in of 4 pillows and 2 mattress pads on top of the wool quilt!
At the end of the day, I learnt that to select “The Mattress” simply hop on to the mattress, lie there for at least 10 minutes in your favourite sleep position and give it a rating of 1 to 10. Try not to test more than 3 mattresses in a day, otherwise you will end up very confused.
Over the weekend we watched Tron in 3D (he loves the graphic effects!) and bought a print by Blanca Gomez from Rockstar by Soon Lee. It is extremely expensive (definitely an impulse purchase) but it makes me happy! Blanca Gomez is a graphic designer and illustrator from Madrid, I love the clean and cheery looking prints!
I also bought a wooden ribbon brooch by mein also from Rockstar! I love her creation!
I wanted to share with you the pictures I took in Sun Moon Lake, but the pictures are all up in flickr and flickr is temporarily down. BAH. Taipei is not just famous for it’s street food, it is also known for it’s street shopping! Here are the items I bought!
Day 1
We arrived in the late afternoon and only did some random shopping around Xi Men Ding! Bought 2 little bows for Barley, a dog socks (which is a little too small for her!), a cute vintage-looking thermal flask (which I bought another on the last day for a friend), a random accessories hanger and a pair of cute shoes! It’s turning winter in Taipei and most of the shoes on sale are covered shoes!
Day 2
Shopping around Shilin Market, I bought a pair of lovely shoes (which is really cute), a scarf, a belt, Hanskin BB cream from Watson (YAY! I don’t have to get anyone to go Korea to get them for me!), a cute specs for my sister, 3 Wu Ling Mi Ji notebooks and a mini scheduler for a friend who loves piano and cat!
Day 3
We were shopping at Wu Fen Pu (a wholesale street market) and I got a top, a skirt, a shorts, a pair of flats ( which I adore) and a cute vintage inspired bag! I also got some eye mask and face stuff from a departmental store near Taipei Main Station!
Day 4
More random shopping! Bought Barley a set of Kimono dress for CNY at Jiufen, some herbal sugar thingy for my granny, two pairs of cute kick-ass shoes, a whole lot of face masks for my friends and sister and barang bags to hold all these stuffs!
Day 5
There’s nothing to buy at Sun Moon Lake but I can’t resist theses cute DIY owl soft toy kit (going to try making them and will share how it goes!) and a froggie bubble blower to kill time at night! This bubble blower is huge and really good quality! I can blow streams and streams of bubbles in one breath! It cost slightly over 2 bucks and my sister claimed that this is the best value buy of my trip! HAH. I had to pursue him and survive his killer glares before he succumbed to my “child-deprived-of-sweets-like” expression! HAHA.
Day 6
We love Shilin Market’s Hao Da Da Ji Pa so much we had to go back there during our last night! I bought a winter coat, three pairs of shorts, a shirt for my little brother, a romper-like thingy, some random sweets, a pink scheduler for my exciting new year, and another wu ling mi ji for my mum. I thought it was funny, giving her “Yu Nu Xing Jing” which is erm for virgin swordswoman. HAHA. Erm, ok, fine, not that funny.
We also bought a total of 7 boxes of awesome Feng Huang Su from an amazing bakery! It is that awesome! The best that I’ve ever tasted! I’ll share about the store another day! Friends who met me weeks later will not have the chance to savor them! The pastries will expire after 14 days! It is baked daily without preservative! Thus, to ensure the freshness it must be consumed within 14 days, not that it requires 14 days to finish them all up! Haha.
I also bought two set of cute stamps but I forgot to take a picture of them!
// Disclaimer: All these crappy pictures are taken from his not so crappy phone. In case you are wondering why the sudden change in picture quality. HAH.
Happy Thursday!

The most value for money and the cutest thing I bought from my Taiwan trip! A frog bubble blower! Hee.
My friend gave me a $20 Sanrio voucher not knowing of my lack of excitement for kitties without mouth! Dragging my mystery friend along, we walked around for almost an hour at Takashimaya’s sales bazaar only to be told that this voucher can only be used at their concept store.
We picked these up during the one hour hunt at the bazaar!
The purchase decision was tough and the lack of choices did not help.
For the items to be selected, it has to be:-
Affordable and worth buying: The items are generally exorbitant with the cheapest item starting from $2.90 for a simple folder to over a hundred for a teapot!
Discreet: Being spotted with some cutesy item in the public is definitely not my style!
Practical: I don’t need anymore knick knacks especially when I’m moving out early next year!
We headed over to their concept store and spent another hour deciding what to get. After almost an hour, I overheard a young lady who decided to purchase a Hello Kitty Wedding Guest Book at close to $60! Being a practical lady who fails in Math, I sold the voucher to her at $15! I gave $5 to my mystery friend (HINT in one of the pictures) who kindly tolerated my indecisiveness for two hours! The $2.50 per hour is lower than/equivalent to the minimum wage according to him!
The young lady was in awed that I couldn’t find anything I like! She squealed (not kidding) in delight for her luck and exclaimed irritably on my inability to decide on anything! My lack of sensitivity once again put me into an awkward situation when I said “Oh. I’m not a fan of Hello Kitty!”. I swear she almost killed me with her side glare but quickly resumed into her cutesy self thanking me repeatedly!
P.S. Sorry babe! I didn’t use you voucher to purchase any cutesy stuff but I guess I made the girl happy! Hah.
Blogged from iPhone
I finally succumbed to buying a Mini Diana lomo against his will! This will come in handy during our Taipei trip!
Welcome to Taiwan!
“Lomo is about becoming patient again, about enjoying the real process of shooting a photo with low stress and lots of fun.” – Andrew Standen-Raz, documentary filmmaker
