I’m feeling all lovey dovey after watching two romance movies back to back. I love “Leap Years”. Matthew Goode is cute and Ireland is beautiful! Love castles!

“When in Rome” is funny and Rome is romantic but a little touristy.

Having watched the movie after reading the book gave me a different insight from my earlier encounter with “Eat, Pray, Love”. I enjoyed it and it is a beautiful travelogue with a life story! It tempted me to seek liberation in this robotic life and ignited the burning desire to travel again!

Italy, Rome

She was there to seek the appetite for life and the scene left me salivating for the food and made me want to visit Rome too!

India

She was there to gain a spiritual life and I was a tat disappointed with the Ashram featured. I expected it to be up in some mountain and far from the city where there was nothing but peace and tranquility.

Indonesia, Bali

I love Bali (and Barley)! It is beautiful and I’m a little embarrassed for not visiting this tiny island given that it is so near us!

After watching all the 3 French films I bought, I concluded that I am so in love with French movies!

“Love me if you dare” is quirky and twisted. I was very disturbed by the ending. The thought of it still makes me wriggle.

“Priceless” is classy and fun! The clothes on Audrey Tautou are to die for! The movie is all about materialism and money only until the very end!

“He loves me, He loves me not” is my favourite! For the first half of the movie, it makes me hate all men who cheat especially those with wife and kids! The plot darkened in the second half of the movie and I pitied that man and his family. If you think I am turning gracious and forgiving, I’m not, it is just that Angelique – played by Audrey Tautou – is not crazy in love, she is just crazy.

Ex-Rental Gems.

Scouring through piles of cheap ex-rental VCDs/DVDs is one of my favourite hobby! I found three cool titles today among other crappy unheard of titles! There are indeed gems in there! I found two French titles “Priceless” and “Love me if you dare”! I love classy, quirky and poetic French movies! I love Audrey Tautou and I heard “Love me if you dare” is good!

In those piles I also found a movie starring SJP! I love her! I doubt this movie is going to be awesome but I love brainless chick flicks!

The Age of Stupid

A couple of weeks ago, I received a pair of tickets to watch the screening of this indie documentary.

In the movie,what struck me most was this…

“When we looked back at the various holocaust that happened in the past, we wondered what the heck were those people thinking, killing innocent mankind. In fifty years time, our future generation would asked, what the heck were we thinking, ignoring the obvious signs of global warming, killing innocent mankind.”

These are probably not the exact words but it’s along this line. SIGH. I can hear our future generation blaming us when I’m seventy. Some chose to believe that such movies are mere propagandas, others believe that the situation is not as bad as the media depicts, even if these are true, it doesn’t change the fact that the environment is changing and it is changing for the worst.

Short Review.

I’ve got a whole lot of stuffs to share but I just can’t get down to writing them with my busy social schedule and a whole stack of books and DVDs calling out to me!

Here are some short reviews of the various movies that I’ve seen for the past weeks.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time: I love catching up with my MT friends outside work! This time round, Wai Mun, Victor, Steph and I caught this movie together after our training! I totally dig Disney movies! I love happy ending and its dreamy and mystical setting. It is not something you would remember after a few years but one which would leave a nice feeling when you walk out of the theatre.

Karate Kids: Like father like son. Jaden Smith is awesome and very convincing. This movie is heart warming and sincere (just a little corny in certain instances) but overall it’s good! Definitely a feel good movie! I’m glad I watched it with my family! Thank you sister for the treat (even though you don’t get to watch)!

Toy Story III: I love weekend movie date! We almost wanted to buy the strawberry scented Lotso bear before the movie! So glad we didn’t! That incorrigible evil bear does not deserve a loving home! I’m glad he ended up on a truck! HAHA. Toy Story III is mediocre. A lot of interesting new characters but I expected more from Pixar! Thankfully we didn’t watch it in 3D! There aren’t many “popping moment” opportunities for a good 3D movie.

Did You Hear About the Morgans?: It’s just plain, flat, slow, predictable and mediocre.

Tooth Fairy: Erm. It’s just – awkward. Don’t ask.

Dorothy Perkins Fashion Night Out: SATC2

Sue Ann took part in Dorothy Perkins’ Fashion Night Out contest and won a pair of SATC2 sneak premiere tickets (all thanks to her bestie – Lai Yee! Thank you babe!). Before the movie, I was treated with awesome shopping experience at Dorothy Perkin! Have you ever gone shopping where there are guys serving you canapes? HAHA.

Look at my arms. GRRR.

SATC2 was awesome! AWESOME! It is a MUST for all SATC fans! Ignore the poor reviews you see on newspapers (I heard ST Life gave it 3.5 / 10!) and magazines! You have to watch it! It’s hilarious! I won’t say the plot is the best, but just watching the characters, relieving the good old days of SATC makes me smile! The experience was especially unique when you watch it in a theater filled with SATC fanatics! Everyone cheered, “ooohh and ahhh” and laughed at the same scene! Go watch it!

Sue Ann loves sweet popcorn! I love them too!

Iron man 2

Before all my readers run away from SbR, I’m not turning my blog into a wedding blog! I’m just a little lazy to set up and manage a separate blog and I’m very tempted to convert say 30% of SbR to wedding related entries!? How does that sound?

Anyway, I’ve watched Iron Man 2 and I don’t think it’s fantastic. Don’t get me wrong, I must agree it’s sexier and cooler than the first one, but the plot is a little airy fairy and the fight wasn’t as exciting as I expected. Maybe I’m just a violent girl innately. HAHA.

I love watching movies in pyjamas and with pillow!

It is an extension of Lewis Carroll’s novels Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. The film uses a technique of combining live action and animation. In the film, Alice is now 19 years old and accidentally returns to Underland, a place she previously visited 13 years ago. I like the animation and how colourful and magical the film felt. But I thought the story is not engaging enough and has a rather weak plot. I’m also rather disturbed by Anne Hathaway’s role as the white queen. She seems like a puppet in the film. Really. Strange.

We watched the 3D version and regretted paying a premium for it after 30 minutes. The glasses gave us headaches and there weren’t enough “popping” actions or scenes worth paying for. But I like Johnny Depp role as the Mad Hatter. He added emotions into an otherwise nutty character. HAH.
