// This is not intended to be an advertorial, but I guess, to hit my October quota before I fly off to Italy for my honeymoon!

I have the sweetest friends on Earth and sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve such awesome friends!

For one, I have this amazing friend, Chengwei, who took time to create a secret parcel filled with this century old wedding custom inspired by her latest favorite book and movie and mail it to me as a surprise! Not only that, she wrote a post at her blog dedicated to me! Awwww!!! Most of what is here is from her blog because she writes so well!

A parcel filled with…

“Something old, something new,
Something borrowed, something blue,
And a silver sixpence in her shoe.”

Inside the parcels ,each item is supposed to bring good luck to me and a happy marriage!

photo

Something Old: A link of continuity to the bride’s past. It also represents the life being left behind to start a new beginning, but not forgetting where she has been and her family values.

She gave me a book which she bought them second hand!

Something New: Optimism and hope for the future. It conveys the bride’s wish to creating a union that will endure the test of time.

She gave me a necklace and handcream which are new! Haha.

Something Borrowed: Borrowing an item from a happily married woman to borrow her luck. It also symbolizes the love and adoration she has for the person she borrowed the item from, and that the bride can count on her family and friends for love and support.

She lend me another book which she loves!

Something Blue: A symbol of love, modesty, fidelity, luck, purity, loyalty.

The necklace she gave me is blue!

A Lucky Sixpence in her Shoe: A representation of the bride’s wealth and financial security. For optimal results, the sixpence should be worn in the left shoe.

I love this little trinklet best! According to Cheng wei, sixpence is almost equivalent to six pennies, six British cents, which is almost 20 Singapore cents! HAHA.

Thank you babe, for creating a parcel which is somethingforme, somethingIcansmileabout and all for somethingaboutrenes!

And yes, I will try to have an enjoyable wedding day (attempting to ignore all the perfectionist bride in me) and I will not forget my beloved SSSS. You girls are so special to me and I agree, somethingsdon’tchange!

Picture 018

Nine months ago, we were stuck in an office room working on some mind-bogging complex system project and a tiny magic bean was all we each had to keep our sanity. Nine months later, all five of the stalks / bean (WM’s bean never grow) all died or abandoned to the wild except for ZN’s. Today, he gave us this. One bean each. These beans were from the same beanstalk he planted nine months back. One pod with six beans (ZN kept one at home! Thus the picture only has five!) in it. What a coincident?! Just like us back then. Six blur dudes/babes stuck in one room. HAH. I’m going to plant this little seed in my new planter box.

CW & Plumber got engaged! Congratulation girl! 3 of our SSSS girls are now part of the engaged club! Sue, when are you joining us?Read about their proposal here! Awwww.

Met up with 36F with Jason and I, and we had Mexican dinner at Piedra Negra at Haji lane. It was awesome! We had fun meeting up with her and learning about her love life! HAH.

Bad picture. It goes to show how hard I work during the day. HAH.

We had a SSSS CNY gathering at my place last weekend with lots of yummy food and fun company! We were trying to pull off a Korean BBQ with lots of pork belly, Korean chill paste and lettuce. We so need the griller for our future house but it’s going to be at our balcony! HAH.

We also celebrated SQ’s birthday in advance!

Pretty cupcakes!

Us girls! The best news heard that night has yet to come…

We had a SSSS (plus One) gathering at CW’s place last night (after work!) and I am so thankful for the girls! I still find it amazing that we became such close friends despite not knowing each other in the first few years of university. We were acquaintance until we went to SA’s bbq party! Haha. Thank you girls!

They became an important source of support and it is not a “want” but a “need” to share with them! We emailed each other daily and I guess it is through these email chains that kept us sane between the time we didn’t meetup! It is also amazing that these girls don’t judge and are really nice people despite our many flaws and shortcoming! I love you girls!

I went to CW’s place after work and took a shower at her place! HAHA. We totally ignored the guys in this picture! HAHA.

Look at the food! CW packed the best prawn paste chicken in Upper Thomson Road and I was so glad that she loves yam ring and fried baby squid as well! Haha.

SQ came back from Taiwan and SA came back from South Africa!  Love pressies from overseas! SA and SQ also prepared Xmas presents for us! Thank you girls! Sorry for not bringing any presents! Work was crazy and last year’s Xmas is the most Un-Christmasy for me. Haha. I offered a big hug and a coconut flavored (SQ’s Paul Frank lip gloss present!) sloppy kiss though but all the girls rejected my gift! HEH.

Cooking Mama

Faith came up with this competition as a CG program! As the reigning champion, we got to present something decent to uphold our title (or not lose face)! Our must use ingredient is fish!

It was my plumber’s birthday day last week and I was made to create a birthday note by his sweet girlfriend, CW, HAHA.

Met up with the SSSS girls for dinner last week! It has been way too long since we last met and I am glad we did! Dinner at Ah Loy Thai at Shaw Tower was good! Authentic thai food rocks!

You got to try their butter calamari! It’s heavenly! Reminds me of cereal prawn!

Love their choking-spicy seafood tom yam soup!

photo3

You got to try their pandan chicken too!

// I uploaded these via Flickr because even Photobucket is down. GOSH.

Siqi went Hongkong and bought us girls a bag in bag! It’s so pretty!

I adore the owl necklace! Many months back I wanted to get something similar from F21 but it was sold out! A belated birthday present but I still love it nonetheless!
