For the one month we stayed at our new place, has been a great cook! And I am ashamed to say that he is a better cook than I am. Or rather, he has the natural instinct to cook while I on the other hand, can read recipes (just like I can read maps) and follow closely to it just to cook delicious food!

So far, he has made numerous breakfast, pastas and marinated awesome meat for our grill-out sessions with our friends!

Thank you love for all the yummy treats!

Back when I was interning in Shanghai almost 6 years back, I frequent this steamboat place – Xiao Fei Yang - which was really awesome and when we were in Shanghai we went back for it! Yummy! It is a chain store and it is value for money and really good!

This picture tells a funny story at the restaurant! I ordered Sprite and Steph ordered Orange juice. Their price was a dollar difference and she probably thought it was freshly squeezed juice and hence the price difference. But minutes later, I got my can of Sprite and Steph got her 1.5L orange juice! Never judge a drink via the price in China! Haha. Haha.

In between church and work on Sunday (yes, I work on Sunday), we popped by Bollywood Veggies for lunch. Many people have heard or read about the court case of Bollywood Veggies and how Ivy the owner of Bollywood Veggies shaved her head after winning the court case. But reading about her and seeing her life in action is a world of difference.

We happened to chance upon her giving a group of children a small introduction talk and her sharing about how we should all be warriors (to love and protect) and how a knife in itself is not evil but depends on how you use it. For instance, a knife can be used to save one’s life if you use it to cut a piece of cloth off your clothes to stop someone from blessing excessively or if you need to amputate someone’s finger to save his hand from being stuck in a machine. Cruel as I may have written, but the way she delivered it was inspiring. It is something I would like my future children to hear it too.

At the café, she also hired someone with disabilities, but her disabilities did not stop her from providing excellent service. Her warm wide smile and her constant checking to ensure that we enjoyed our food, truly make her an excellent service professional!

It was an enjoyable trip minus the heat! The meal was simple yet seemingly home cooked, even though it’s a little pricey for my pocket but it is an experience I very much enjoyed. We each received a keychain after our meal as a souvenir!

Tempura something.

We even bought some seeds at a little booth and if we succeed in growing these seeds, you will see a new guest blogger our in house gardener! I have a closet gardener! Just wait till he has his hands on our little planter box!

We had our first and best dinner at Portuguese Settlement!

The Portuguese Settlement is a Kristang community in Ujong Pasir where Kristang are a Malaysian ethnic group with mixed Portuguese and Malay ancestry. This community was arose during the Portuguese colonial period. In this area, you can also see many household with a cross at their door!

This place is famous for all sorts of seafood and they had a lot of crayfish and all sorts of shellfish! But with only two of us, it is hard to try all different dishes without bursting our pocket and stomach! Our hotel concierge recommended Stall 1 and it is indeed a popular choice among the patrons there!

Tried their Portuguese style fish which tasted a little like our sambal stingray!

Tried their famous pepper crab! Unlike our local black pepper crab, this tasted like grill/bbq crab tossed lightly with black pepper!

And of course, sambal kang kong is a must in all zhi char eat out. HAHA

At Sentosa, we dropped by Coastes for their thin crust pizza and calamari. With a live band playing at the background, sound of the lapping sea waves and unintentional (spoilt!) dimly lighted  area, it is the romantic moment for a lot of couple. Haha.

ReStore

Restore Living Pte Ltd
124 Tanjong Pagar Road
Singapore 088533

Chanced upon ReStore during one of our wedding errands day! It is a quaint little café set up by Meg and Hwee Min. They hunted down old furniture in Singapore and restored them to their glorious state. Meg loves for gourmet food turned their little showroom into a café!

Love the cosy café and their works on the furniture.

How nice if I can have a little counter like this at home!

Nice warm lights.

Mmmmm.

How retro!

Met up with 36F with Jason and I, and we had Mexican dinner at Piedra Negra at Haji lane. It was awesome! We had fun meeting up with her and learning about her love life! HAH.

Bad picture. It goes to show how hard I work during the day. HAH.

Bruno’s Pizzeria & Grill
338 Tanjong Katong Rd Singapore 437110
Tel: 64404525

We started with some warm bread with olive oil and vineger.

Then the flavorful mussels in white wine! The mussels would have been perfect if it is slightly bigger. HAHA.

Yums!

The perfect four cheese pizza! The crust was amazing and the fragrant of the cheese made me saliva in front of the Italian owner who served us. HAH.

Their crab meat pasta was awesome!

The apple pie (puff) with ice cream was warmed up with love!

It is often rare to find a restaurant which serves up every dishes made up of love and perfection. This little restaurant tucked in a corner at Tanjong Katong serves authentic Italian delights and the crowd last night was one of the most varied I’ve seen. There are mature expatriates, young and fashionable Caucasian,  SPG-s, successful looking middle age couple, regular Joes like us, lesbian couples, student looking couples and more.

Thank you baby for this simple and wonderful Valentines day meal.

Momoya.

One restaurant I will not recommend is Momoya. It is worse than disappointing. We walked past it once and saw their bustling business. Following our food making decision rule – a crowded restaurant will not go wrong – we decided to try their ala carte buffet. We tried 80% of their best seller and recommended dishes but none of them “Wowed” us. GAH. I guess some people find it value for money. We concluded that we have a more sophisticated palate for Japanese food. HAHA.

Big Eater Seafood Restaurant

This is a long overdue post! Close to two weeks ago, we celebrated Jason’s birthday with his family at Big Eater Restaurant. The food was decent and their signature dish – Egg Yolk Crab never fails to disappoint.

Their other dishes weren’t mind blowing though. If you have not noticed, other than their food, the other thing that sets them apart is their crab décor!

The kitty is so cute!

Genevieve is so cute! Whoever wrote for their granny is so sweet!

Look at the robot! It seems like it is popular among visitors too! Since we are also given a chance to test our artistic talent we will try our hand drawing them too!

Did you see the resemblances? Haha. I think. I think I missed the nose and his chin though.

Can you tell what he drew? Very abstract. I will reveal the answer at the bottom of this post. I bet you can’t guess what it is because no one managed to guess it right the first time. HAHA.

// Ans: it’s a plane! Yes. Erm.
