All Things Pretty

A while back I bought a Marimo from a street store at Clarke Quay and I shared it in my blog here. I love Marimo and they have been cheering me up after a bad day at work and I happened to take this picture with my latest Squareroom magazine featuring Eco Chic design ideas! Me feeling all greens and eco-ly decided to take my marimo with the front cover and it turn out pretty well! These Marimos will be sitting at my bathroom in my new apartment and I can’t wait!

The store owner, Give a Plant, invited me to take part in the Marimo photo contest and winners will win the following.

  • 1st prize – 2 x marimos in limited edition glass whale + 2 x marimos in limited edition glass apple worth $60.00 in total
  • 2nd / 3rd prize- 2 x marimos in (choice of limited edition glass apple or whale worth $30.00)

I’ve decided that I will be giving out all the prizes (if I win them) to my blog readers! As I don’t need any more Marimos but I’m sure one of you might need one to cheer you up! So depending on how much you want it, you can start voting for my picture! Do drop a comment here if you voted so that I can randomly select winners for this contest. So this contest is not mine, but yours! If I got the 1st prize, there will be 4 to giveaway and if I got the 2nd or 3rd prize, there will be 2 to giveaway! Also, the owner will be picking 3 voters to give them one Marimo each! After all, good things must share! Haha! Do remember to vote for the correct picture though. Haha.

So vote here, if you need a Marimo or if you think someone needs a Marimo!

// I know I should be posting about my Shanghai Trip but all my pictures are with my colleague. Sad.

I’m going to share with you a little store I got recommended to at The Clementi Mall! It’s The Good Things! It sells mainly items sourced from the UK and other European countries! Some of the random things are also from Museums all over the world! I couldn’t resist and broke the bank for two little items for our new home!

It is located at the Third Level (the level linking from MRT linkway) and just right behind Starbucks!

The “S” is cut off. Oops.

You should spend some time reading this, really funny.

They sell random clocks and vintage posters.

This owl can so add on to my collection! But no, I resisted this.

But I couldn’t resist this! We always wanted a map for our study room and this is an interactive map! A scratch map! We will be scratching the places we visited together on this map! Yippee. This costs approximately $40 and it’s made in UK!

This other item I bought is the real bank breaker!

I always wanted a reindeer head in our house and I guess this is something that is more artsy, matches our Scandinavian theme a little and adds a splash of colours to our neutral tone home. It’s designed in Italy and made in Germany and it costs more than a $100 dollars. GULPED. Someone need to stop me. This is what happens when I shop alone.

I want a bicycle like this!

I’m thinking of either this (above) or this (below) for my walk in near my dresser. Hee.

I like this too! Maybe for our bedroom! I think it’s therapeutic to look at a tree first thing you wake up in the morning. All from Decorette!  I have an idea which is not there, something Scandinavian.

I bought 13 letters and a wooden bird (not in picture) from Typo today and I’m going to put it in my house! You can make a guess on where I’m putting each of these combinations! All these for $40!

Was told by Cheng Wei that Typo is here in Singapore! It is from the same parent company that operates Cotton On and it is extremely popular in Australia! There are many beautiful things that I want to lug home from this store but Jason stopped me! He predicted that there will be a periodic sale just like Cotton On. BAH. See! I told you engineers are tough cookies and tight on your purse string!

It’s here in Wisma!

Random blue things I like!

This picture was sent to be from CW by the time I went to the store (24H later) this item is gone! Pff! Gone! Can you believe it? I wanted to get this for our new place and wedding decor since the colour is just right! Just not my day.

This will be perfect for my owl collection except that it is a tad oversize and my tiny loft (I know oxymoron here) may not have a space for it. BOO.

I first read about King & King Wong at bookjunkie’s blog and thought I must visit this shop someday! A few days ago, I happened to be around Serangoon for work so I decided to pop by and take a look at this much raved about store! I was not disappointed. When I stepped it, it feels as though I’m in a warehouse filled with random stuff, some really pretty items and some really bizarre items. There are items which gives out different vibes, you have the country and cottage style, the vintage and old school feel, glitzy glamour and some items which you can’t exactly pinpoint a style to it.

This is the perfect place for brides getting items for their dessert table!

Whimsical British Glamor?

Great for my little “corridor”!

Pretty candle holder!

I told ya there’s country / vintage!

I’ll end it off with a rear view! Heh.

Over the past weeks, I’ve added 3 owl items to my collection! Hee.

CW bought this little scrabble tile necklace from an online shop! Lovely! Love the colour too!

Got this canvas reusable bag from Cotton On! It is only $2 and part of the money goes to a charitable organization.

Wai Mun spotted this owl when we were shopping at Daiso! I had to get it! Love the big eyes.

Over the weekend we watched Tron in 3D (he loves the graphic effects!) and bought a print by Blanca Gomez from Rockstar by Soon Lee. It is extremely expensive (definitely an impulse purchase) but it makes me happy! Blanca Gomez is a graphic designer and illustrator from Madrid, I love the clean and cheery looking prints!

I also bought a wooden ribbon brooch by mein also from Rockstar! I love her creation!

I stumbled upon Laura Ashley store at Great World City yesterday and fell in love with their stuffs! It is all so pretty and I spent forty five minutes walking around the tiny store just looking around. Their staffs must have thought I am crazy. This must be the reason for their cold service provided.

I love the book ends but it cost over a hundred bucks!

Even though their store has many pretty things, their service standard is disappointing. Of all the five staffs I encountered, there are only two young ladies who care enough to provide good service. The first one replied, “All sales items are on our selling area” and walked away when I asked if there are any other pieces of a particular item. When I proceeded to ask the staff at the sales bazaar they held at the atrium, the young guy said under his breathe to his colleague, “It is for birds, how clean she wants it to be.” The third lady, the kind one was the one who helped me find one which has less glue stain. The forth lady at the cashier counter bluntly replied “There is no box for this item” when I asked for one. The last lady at the cashier counter appeared apologetic when they do not have a decent paper bag and ended up giving me a bulky looking plastic bag.

What is happening to the service standards in the retail industry? Or is it because the atas store only serves expats and Caucasians with a smile? I’m flabbergasted. I am a certified service professional (I’m not joking) and cliché as it may sound, I believe service must come from the heart and service staffs should really learn to empathize with their customer.

Anyway, on a brighter note, I bought a bird feeder! HAHA. It is a little pricy even after discount and I thought he will be mad at me for spending on random stuff, but even he thinks it’s cute! HEH. I’m going to use it as wedding décor and hang it on my balcony after my wedding! This explains why I wanted a box – to protect it for the next ten months! DUH.
