    Hi,

I would like to check with you how long did HDB defer the submission of marriage cert for?

My house’s estimated date of completion is Q12014 but I understand that it is usually earlier, and our wedding is already planned for Q12014.

If HDB hands the keys over in Q12013, do u think we could get a 1 year deferment since our wedding is already planned?

Any idea what is the max period that HDB will allow for deferment?

Any tips to share on getting your deferment?

    Thanks!

    Hi Isa,

I got a 6 months deferment, meaning I only collected my keys 6 months ahead of my wedding.

I know if you did not received their CPF housing grant they are less stringent.

I have cousins who received 1 year deferment. 1 tip, you got to kick up a big fast! The HDB peeps are really mad and double standard.

I first got my deferment rejected, but once I asked to speak to higher authority on the reason why I got rejected since my cousin used to be able to get it, with the same documents given, they say they will reviewed and shortly after we got accepted!

We submitted tons of documents to “prove” that our wedding is planned for and really happening! Like, banquet booking, photography booking, bridal booking, videography booking, florist and church location booking!

I heard some people went to the MP!

It is really a silly process and my advice to most people is to have the wedding earlier to save the trouble! But if you already planned for it like we did, you just have to go head on with them!

Good luck and I hope it helps!

    Hey Serene,

Wow. Good to hear that your cousin got a one year deferment! Thanks for the tips. And will definitely send all the ‘prove’ documents like you did too!

    Thanks and Happy New Year!
