We attended our first Marriage Preparation Course (MPC) conducted by our church yesterday and I thought I’ll share some words of wisdom for all married or to-be-married couples.
In marriage we can enjoy:-
- Companionship
- The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18, NIV
- I can attest to that! I love spending time with him! The good and the bad! Whining about work, sharing good news, enjoying dinners and enjoying his presence.
- Assistance
- The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18, NIV
- I’m helpless in Math and I met an engineer. I can’t write for nuts, his flair in writing is undeniable. I’m messy and grubby; while he’s neat and a clean freak. He is thrifty and I taught him the joy of spending. We are different like chalk and cheese but we filled each other’s shortcomings and flaws.
- Union
- For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Genesis 2:24, NIV
- Two is stronger than one and the union of two is stronger than two on its own. We will learn to give each other the support we need and to think as one entity.
- Fulfillment
- For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Genesis 2:24, NIV
- One man, one woman. One husband, one wife. We will enjoy sexual life with one and no other.
- Belongingness
- So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate. Matthew 19:6 (NIV)
- We have a place call home. Not merely a physical place call home, but a place in each other’s heart in this lifetime.
Dear Lord,
May we remember your beautiful teachings in the many years to come and may these words give strength and love to all married couples out there to cherish each other.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
P.S: I translated and summarized these from a 100% Mandarin lesson. Hopefully it is accurate! Hee.
