We were browsing at a mini bridal fair over the weekend and realized the aunties / uncles in bridal studios are out to ruin our life.
We sat there hoping to find out more about bridal packages to get a head start in learning about this industry, only to be disappointed with the lack of personalize services.
Browsing through the album restlessly, I can’t help but griped at the lack of creativity and customization in their bridal packages. They all looked the same! They even showed me an album with three couples having their pre-wedding shots at the same locations in the same poses. The only difference is the couple in the pictures! OMG! I told the auntie we need to look around more to get a better sensing on what we are in for and she replied, “It’s all the same. You go to other bridal shops; they also give you the same thing. All the same one.”
I do not want to be a package bride. I do not want to be a cookie cutter bride. I do not what to be “All the same one”. Don’t they understand that brides want to feel special especially on their wedding day? Don’t they understand that brides want to feel like they are the most beautiful woman on that day and they want their closest friends and families to feel the same. They surely don’t want to look “All the same”!
GOSH.
This is probably the longest rant I had in weeks.
These aunties/uncles not only populate the bridal industry but also the home renovation and travel industry. Everything is cookie cutter. Everyone’s houses look the same, everyone on travel packages go to the exact same spot taking the exact same pictures. In order to have customized and creative services, one has to pay a premium.
SIGH. I hate these industries.

Ah yes. Those cookie-cutter packaged deals. I went to TWO bridal shops (BS) along Tanjong Pagar with a girlfriend, intending to find out some information and we BOTH walked out feeling traumatised and vowing never to return. They are scary. And I don’t even bother with those BS shows because really, they are just there to SELL! SELL! SELL! and will not be listening to you. All they want is for you to sign. on. the. dotted. line. so that they can make your life hell.
Yes, not ALL BS are like that but I can’t help but realise that MANY of them are such. I’ve heard of so many horror stories, i.e. the one who lost the wedding gown (!!) 3 days before the actual day.
My point is: When sourcing for a BS, even though cost is a factor, you’d have to take into consideration that what you pay, is what you ARE GOING TO GET.
Another story: A friend chose a BS because of a gown she really liked. In the end, they told her that it’s a little torn and they can’t get it repaired because the lace is “special” and has to be imported (and they are obviously not going to do it). So in the end, she had to choose another gown which was obviously not her first choice.
Right, that is one long comment/rant. Ha! Just make sure that whoever you choose, makes YOU and hubby feel comfortable. And a woman’s gut feel is seldom wrong
ALL THE BEST!
