The results for the interview I went with the company that never sleeps?

self-destruction.”
They emailed and yes, I’m dealing with the aftermath now.

Sailing away for a therapuetic holiday.
28 – 30th Jan
My niece is freaking cute! I love her BIG eyes, long curled up lashes!

I only just realized that my aunt married a Baba and so she decided to whip up some Peranakan delicacies this year instead of the usual steamboat.

The chef.

The food. Babi Ponteh, Kueh Pai Ti, Or Ni etc etc
Ever since my sister got her new pink camera, she exhibits her innate talent. Cam-whoring and encouraging others to do the same.
Before the reunion dinner… we were not helping instead… we were busy cam-whoring…

My dysfunctional Dad

My Grandma and I

The probable reason for coming out with the above product?
(1) Guys are lazy …
(2) … thus they don’t wash them …
(3) … Plus they are forgetful…
(4) … so this prevents them from wearing it twice.
Note: Please do not ask me why I’m always at the Men’s ermm corner.
This was long overdue. After the Little Nonya craze, we decided to go try some authentic Peranakan food to see if it’s really good.
Chilli Padi Nonya Cafe
470 North Bridge Road#01-02 North Bridge Commercial ComplexS(188735)
Tel: 63397745
A no frills eat-all-you-can buffet costing below $20. I am not one who usually fancy buffets because of its wide variety of substandard food.
But the food served at Chilli Padi was of fine quality made with love and effort. The food quality more than compensates the lack of variety.
The rattan furniture, “Rooster porcelain” bowl, black and white photographs of people dressed in Traditional Peranakan clothings seemingly brought us back to 19th century.
Peranakan cuisine is a fusion of both the Straits Chinese and Malays. My personal favourite? The Nonya Mee Siam which is vastly different from the ones we had. The spice fragrance and the slight sour-ish taste differ from the ones served by the local Malay communities. I don’t know how to verbalize the difference but you just know once you taste it.
I am not a fan of the renowned Nonya Kuehs but people who love tapiocas, coconuts and chewy pastries will love them.

Nonya Chap Chye, Ikan Sambal Tumis, Curry Chicken, Babi Assa (Clockwise)

Kueh Pai Ti, Chwee Kueh, Gado Gado, Pig Stomach Soup (Clockwise)

Oh well, it’s a learning experience (acting positive).
IT SUCKS! (true feelings)
When the whole world is busy coming out with strategies to reduce the impact caused by the current financial turmoil.
What are the Russians doing to relieve their pain?
Make Russian Vodka more affordable through slashing the tax. WOW.
“MOSCOW – AMID a financial crisis that is cutting jobs and eroding growth, there is finally good news for Russians.
The head of the new state alcohol agency – gleefully dubbed the ‘Ministry for Vodka’ by the press – is advocating cutting taxes on vodka to make the country’s national tipple more accessible, the Izvestia daily reported.”

Some of my readers may be wondering why the lack of post these few days.
I’ll let you take a peek of my schedule and you’ll understand.
Tuesday
First lesson in Labour Law. I’m glad I took it.
Open book. (checked)
Interesting and useful (checked)
S/U-able (checked)
Interesting classmates. (Oh)
Year 1 and 2 ask way too many questions because 20 percent class participation is too high a stake to not speak. For the first time in a class, I barely speak less than 10 words in 3 hours.
Wednesday
Assessment Centre (almost full day). We were asked to prepare a 5 minutes presentation on a given topic a week ahead. Played some ball passing game. Had a group discussion.
But what surprised me most?
“How do you sell a radio to the deaf? Answer in 1 minute”
Don’t ask me how I fared. Cause I was shocked and my brain blanked out momentarily (4.17 seconds to be exact).
Thursday
Morning: Trying to convince a dude from MOE that my secondary school’s alumni group is operating effectively, systematically and according to the school’s values. DUH.
Afternoon: Interview with “The Company that never sleeps” ’s HR director.
One of the toughest interviews that I’ve ever been to and it lasted almost 1.5 hrs.
Try answering.
(1) What’s the size of our economy? How much (in percentage) did manufacturing / import / export contribute to our economy?
(2) What’s the political system / voting system like in Canada? What about in the United States?
(3) What would you do if you are the Prime Minister? (answered) Ok, what else? (answered some more). Hmm. Anything else?
Conclusion: I need to read more and remember what I read.
Friday
A meeting with my thesis professor. Oh. Thesis. It was never good to start with.
Before I met her, she said. “Come prepared.”
When I met her, she said. “I thought I told you to come prepared.”
I need a huge brain; otherwise, I’ll need huge hands with a strong arm and a supernatural page flipping capability.
I need to be like Harry. Sponge-like Harry.
HAH. Just when you think it’s all over…
Tuesday
Sharing with my juniors from NP on how my school rocks!
Wednesday
Briefing with the company “with a clam-like logo” for their full day assessment centre
Thursday
Full day assessment centre
Friday
Interviewing with “clam-like logo” ’s competitor.
And on a daily basis, my thesis is haunting me.
(Now, I am not supposed to blog for the upcoming week. Don’t ask why.)
