My brother just introduced this new genre of music to me. The kind he listened to all day and night.

SCREAMO.

Out of curiosity, I looked up urbandictionary.com – the trusted dictionary.

Screamo: A term that refers to recent bands that play old style emo. When the media started to label pop punk and indie rock bands emo, people needed a new word to describe the style of music that used to be characterized with emo. Some say screamo is a little more artsy and pretentious than older emo, but that’s arguable.

Ok. Now, my definition of screamo after personally experiencing the horrifying noise, oh no, I meant music.

A bunched of emo kids, or youth as my brother corrected, who learn to sing-scream their lungs out without damaging their throat. “Cause they used a special technique called – Inhale screaming.” That is what my brother claimed, and he went on by saying that “they using diaphragm instead of their throat when singing.”

O.K. Whatever that is, I am definitely not trying to sing like them. Even though my friends prefer to have their “Sore throat Serene” back, but hey, I am not shutting up. HAHA

Me: No. I baked them of course.

Me: It’s from Betty.

Him: Betty….

Me: Pre-mix…… Betty Crocker…

I saw this on The Straits Times today and I was extremely amused. In the article, physical attractiveness was defined as “a beautiful bright smile, nice double eyelids and expressive eyes, high cheekbones and a slim athletic build”. Phrases such as “pleasing to the eye”, “shapely figure”, “good personal grooming and hygiene”, “physically proportionate and symmetrical”, and “charismatic, strong facial features, good dressing” – are added to the labeled “The Unabashedly Shallow Poll”.

It is understandably that students from the city university will probably have better dressing and personal grooming compared to school located in the village. Oh well, it’s all about the packaging. I am sure with all things being equal, minus makeup and great dressing; the differences won’t be that great.

I guess my friends and I should still celebrate because we are a batch of good lookers!
